Growing Food Is Fun: Yummy for Your Tummy

Growing Food Is Fun: Yummy for Your Tummy

Growing Food Is Fun: Yummy for Your Tummy introduces young children to where food comes from and the different ways it can be grown and produced. Through age-appropriate stories, visuals, guided conversations, and hands-on exploration, children begin developing the vocabulary and awareness needed to ask questions about their food and make thoughtful food choices with their families.

Gardening experiences allow children to explore soil, seeds, plants, fruits, and vegetables while observing how food grows. Activities may include planting, tending a small garden, examining fresh foods, and following a plant’s journey from seed to harvest.

The program may be delivered in collaboration with gardening, agricultural, health, or community partners who can help children experience food production firsthand. By connecting food awareness with gardening, the program encourages curiosity, healthy habits, and an appreciation for the people and natural resources involved in producing food.
